You Are Invited
We would like to invite you to take a journey thru the unknown with us. We cannot guarantee you will make it out alive as there are vampires, warewolves, witches and more along the way. Honestly, we cannot guarantee much of anything but what we will try to do is entertain you and if you're new to the world of Dungeons and Dragons 5e, hopefully we can inspire you to create your own character and start your own campaign into the mists of Barovia. Our adventure, Royally Screwed, is scheduled to begin in early October and we expect that it will run for at least a year and a half. This blog will serve as a digital adventure log for our sessions for others to follow along, as well as for our players to be able to look back on our campaign in the future. We are also currently discussing a possible podcast to accompany this blog.
We are the Prince family (hence the Royal reference for the name of this blog). We are your average run of the mill military family throughout the week. But for a few hours every weekend, we are a brave band of heroes who enjoy delving into the dark recesses of caves and dungeons, fighting mobs of goblins, bugbears and orcs as we make our way across the Forgotten Realms. Our marry band of explorers will be swept away to the far away land of Barovia in October as we begin the horror that is Curse of Strahd.
This campaign will be using elements from The Curse of Strahd: Reloaded developed by DragnaCarta (DM of Curse of Strahd: Twice Bitten), Fleshing Out Curse of Strahd by MandyMod, as well as some homebrewed ideas from yours truly. We offer a warning for those who are sensitive to more adult topics - Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror campaign which contains themes and topics that can be a bit more dark and disturbing in nature. Without giving away spoilers in case my players come here hoping to get insight to the campaign, some of these topics include drug use/addiction, child neglect/abuse/murder, torture, and animal cruelty , just to name a few. Two of our players will be teenagers who are mature enough to handle most of the topics found in the campaign, but because of their ages, some topics found in Strahd will either be glossed over or left out entirely (such as racism, sexism, and sexual assault). However, be aware that if these types of topics are triggers for you, proceed cautiously.
Our Adventure Party (As of Now)
Currently our campaign consists of 4 players. This is scheduled to change as we have a few others interested in joining our Strahd campaign (and I will update them as they are confirmed).
Velcar Deverell - Dhampire Fighter
Quiet and reserved, Velcar descended from a line of nomadic humans in the land of Narfell. After anattack on his village by a coven of vampires, with many were killed and his mother raped, he was born half vampire. As he grew older and his vampire abilities grew, he was shunned by his tribe and eventually was forced to leave the home that he knew, but not before he slaughtered his tribe after they killed his mother. He now hunts the dark creatures to prevent further atrocities from happening again. Velcar travels the lands with his cat, Grim. He is currently played by Warpfactor, who proudly serves in the US Military. (Warpfactor's character may change before the start of CoS)
Anet - Male Owl Aarakocra Ranger
Anet is the party's death from above. Born human, as an 18 year old warrior he entered a forest to confront an owlbear that had been plaguing his village. However, this particular owlbear was sacred to one of the gods who was unpleased by the death of the creature and turned the man into an owl-man hybrid, an owl aarakora. Anet, saddened by this turn of events, began wandering the lands to break the curse and eventually came across a young owlbear cub who's mother had been killed. He took the cub in and raised it as his own, naming her Ava. Anet is played by RatGirl,
the 14 year old member of our household.
Thixian Envarius - Male Half Elf Bard
Thixian was born into a noble family, his human mother married Lord Envarius, Duke of Hetherford. While he had all he ever needed, ate from silver utensils, and hand servants to wait on him hand and foot, he never felt free. His only friend being the Tressym, Wraith, which he had since he was young. He would often sneak out of his castle to venture to the nearby village full of the lower class, armed with nothing more than his lyre. He would visit the bar in the center of town and sing and play his heart out. One day a newcomer came into the bar, an owl aarakora, which Thixian took interest in. In between songs he would sit and talk to the man about his adventures and wished to have his own adventure one day. Thixian finally snapped when he was told he would be wed to a woman he'd never met before. As a final slap-in-the-face to his parents, he stole as much money and goods, summoned Wraith to his side, and ran. With the money, he bought a rapier and the rest went to the people of the village.Thixian is played by 23 year old XionLark.
Waking up on a table in an empty room of an abandoned building, Halo has no recollection of who he is, who he was, where he is and where he has come from. The only clues to his previous life are held in a folder found on a nearby desk - a sketch of the man he was, and a brief description of a soldier who had fallen in battle, to have his soul encapsulated into a metal body. The only memories he has of his past life lie in his ability to wield the weapons of war that seem to come natural for him. Halo is played by 14 year old Akrul, who is on the autism spectrum.
Kodiac Killer - Male Eladrin Ranger
owner, an Elf with a pet fox. As the travelers go up to the pubs owner they ask his name. The elf says "My name is Kodiak The Killer and I have ran this pub for 50 years how can I help you?" The travelers ask for a Winter Fox (a white ale) and then asks "how did you get the name Kodiak The Killer?" Kodiak responds "Kodiak is my first name and The Killer is a name I got from the 50 years of battle I have been in to save my elfish home." The travelers at aw ask "Would you be down to join us in one more adventure?" Kodiak responds " You Have My Bow."
Kodiac is played by Foxx, who also serves proudly in the US Military.
About The Dungeon Master
Finally, no adventuring party is complete without the person behind the screen, helping to weave the story into something that the players can enjoy and make memories over. Yours truly, Breaga Magesblood, will be the Dungeon Master (DM) for this campaign. This will be the second campaign (not counting one shots) that I will be directing.
I would like to say that I can enthrall you with wonderful voices, vivid imagery and amazing NPCs to the same skill of Matthew Mercer, Chris Perkins and Matthew Colville. This would be a lie. Instead, I have spent months listening to these DM greats and try to
take what I know I can successfully accomplish without being too campy -
yes, I'm guilty of stealing the famous line "How do you want to do
this?" but I know I am not Mercer and I do not try to be. Try as I might, my NPCs tend to all sound like backwood hicks from Arkansas. However, my kids do enjoy my goblin and orc voices. We still have fun, in spite of my short falls.

ReplyDeleteSo.. Why do I remember this??
